93rd Birth Anniversary Celebration of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib was celebrated by Bangladesh High Commission
The 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib was celebrated by Bangladesh High Commission in Maldives with the theme “Songram -Sadhinota, preronay Bangamata”.The program started with recitation from the Holy Quran. On the occasion of the day, the speeches of the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister were read by the Counsellor (Labour) and Chancery Head Mr. Md. Sohel Parvez and the Third Secretary Mr. Chandan Kumar Saha respectively. On behalf of expatriate Bangladeshis, Mr. Md. Dulal Matbar discussed the remarkable activities and qualities of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib. Then a documentary based on the life of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib was screened.
His Excellency the High Commissioner Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad was present as the Chief Guest in the event. At the beginning of his address, the Chief Guest paid deep tribute to the memory of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib on the occasion of his 93rd birth anniversary. He said, Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib is the pride of Bangladeshis, the source of inspiration for the women’s society. He was brave and determined from childhood. She was not only the consort of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, but she was also one of the leaders of the Bengali freedom struggle. Bangabandhu’s long political life was one of agitation and struggle. He had to go to jail time and again for establishing human rights. And the one who handled everything with a strong hand at that time is Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, consort of the father of the nation. The Honorable High Commissioner referred to Banga Mata’s important advice behind Bangabandhu’s decision-making in important matters such as 6-point movement, mass uprising, 7th March speech, Agartala conspiracy case etc. He mentioned that Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, who was born in Tungipara, Gopalganj on August 8, 1930, has earned the respect and love of people due to his sacrifice and political foresight. After that, a special prayer was offered for the souls of Bangamata and the martyred members of the Bangabandhu family. Finally, the event ended with cake cutting and refreshments on Bangamata’s birthday.
Expatriate Bangladeshis living in Maldives and officials and employees of the High Commission were present on the occasion.
